September-challenge #2 at WijDUS

The second challenge at WijDUS this month was a sketch:

I still have a hard time working with sketches, but I tried anyway.
This is my layout:
After scrapping my kids, myself, animals and whatever...I thought the love of my life needed a place in my gallery as well ! Even better, he should be at the most prominent place in my gallery...he is supporting me so much in everything I do!!
Hugs,
Sandra

September-challenge #1 at WijDUS

The challengeblog WijDUS has two challenges every month. This month the first challenge was 'Back to School'. Although I have two kids that go to school every day I didn't have any first-day-at-school-pictures...The pictures you think of with a theme like this.
I really wanted to do this challenge so I decided to think a little out of the box. I made a nice picture of Mitchell this weekend. He didn't want to pose so I made it when he wasn't paying attention. At this picture I caught him just the way he is now: "I don't care about anything, I don't listen to anyone and I don't want anything!" It was such a big difference with the 4 year-old boy who was too shy to say hello to his teacher. And that is what my layout is about: I noticed that every year my son goes back to school he is becoming more and more into an adolescent. Sometimes I miss the little boy he was...

This is my layout:
For the first time since long I made my title and journaling in dutch.
The journaling means: then, back in the first grade, you were to shy to say goodmorning to your teacher. Now, in the 8th grade you dare to say a lot more!
And it was fun using my glimmermist again...
Have a nice day!

Kaisercraft monthly challenge #1

At the blog of Kaisercraft there is a 30 day contest going on, with daily contests and prizes, during the month of September...just to make it easier for all the Kaisercraft-fans waiting for the 1st of October...the day that the Q2-papers will be released! And if you haven't seen them yet..please check their website! I already have a favourite..the Rewind-collection!

But now the challenge. Kaisercraft started a monthly challenge since this month so I had to be in it...you know I love challenges...
This time you were challenged to be inspired by the inspiration-board of one of the graphic designers and create your scrap-project. You had to use at least three Kaisercraft-products. Because it has become a daily routine now to join those 30 day contests, I used these contests for my layout. The logo of the contest was my sketch:

I tried to capture some parts of the contests in my layout, like the crosswords, the hide & seek-games searching for lions and K-bots, creating embellishments with flowers and ice-creams, etc. I created the picture-frame by coloring the print for the Kaisercraft-kids competition...it took me two hours..and I had just as much fun doing it just like I had when I was a kid!

This is my entry:

As you can see I changed the title a little bit: 30 days of creative MADNESS!
Thanks for looking!

AAM Challenge #2

The AllAboutMe challengeblog had their second challenge last week: What color am I ?
I started surfing the internet immediately to look at the meanings of all the different colors. Lots of sites, lots of meanings and the more I thought about it, the more I knew that I couldn't decide what color I was. I think I have a little bit of all in me...
So the title of my layout was born: I'm colorful!
I scraplifted a layout from a swedish scrapbookmagazine which I bought during my summerholiday in Sweden. As to say: a little bit of scraplifting and a lot of me...

This is my entry to the challenge:
The AAM-blog has a great ChallengeBlogHop now also...starting today untill the 1st of October!
Great challenges, great prizes...Check it out!

Running from AmsterDAM to ZaanDAM !

Last weekend it finally was the day! The day of the Dam to Dam-run!
I run it only one time before and that was in 2005. This year there were two runs because of the 25th edition. There was a special run on Saturday-night: the Dam to Dam by Night and the 'normal' run on Sunday.
I joined the special run on Saturday. Every runner was running in the same purple shirt and along the track there were several special effects with light, lots of music and people celebrating and supporting the runners. I must say...I was so focussed on my run, had my own music on my MP3-player, that I missed some of the entertainment. I knew this might happen but I didn't want to run without my own music because of psychological reasons..
Michael run with me during the whole race, although I told him to run his own race. But he was fine with it and liked my running-speed...he said...But it was great to know he was just behind me and supporting me!

We finished together: 10 EM/16km in 1 hour and 51 minutes! Four minutes of my personal record from 2005...!
For the readers who don't know: Michael is the one with the black cap...and the shaved and strong muscular legs...I'm running just one step ahead, with my eyes focussed on the finishline!

I'm so glad I made it! I had to restart my training in the beginning of August because of an injury on my calf. It felt like starting all over again! I was very frustrated after each training and when I thought of this run it felt like I would never gonna make it in time to run this run properly...but I did it! I'm so proud of myself!

Mini-album Penny Royale

I just finished my latest mini-album! Becuase it is for my DT-'work' it is made with only Kaisercraft-products. This time I used the Aztec-(mdf)album in combination with one of the newest Q1-papercollections from Kaisercraft, the Penny Royale papers. I also used the coordinating brads, die-cut elements, alphabet-stickers and some cream flowers.
The papers are great to use with family-pictures so I did...
I tried to capture the happiness and love of my own family in this album:
I hope you like it!

If I live to be a 100...

Some time ago I was bloghopping and discovered this great NEW challenge blog ItsAllAboutMe. A blog with only challenges about ME!
Just like a lot of fellow-scrappers I always scrap about my kids and my husband. And just like a lot of fellow-photographers I don't like to be on the other side of the camera...So I thought that this was the time to participate in this challenge blog, which also has a great messageboard to share your thoughts and everything you want with others.
As much as I want my kids to know who they were when they were small and how I think about them, I also want them to know who their mother was, what she was thinking and what she looked like.
The first challenge at this AAM-blog was: If I live to be a hundred....How would you finish this sentence?
As soon as I saw this picture the title just popped up in my mind. My son made this picture during our summerholiday in Sweden. I was wearing his cap backwards, just for fun, when we were hiking and my daughter had to laugh a lot and said: Mom, you look so much younger now! It made me smile the rest of the time...So this is my layout:
Have a nice day!

Are you looking for me?

This is the layout I made for the challenge at Scrappassion. You had to use this sketch and a screenprint:

Because I had never worked with screenprints and I didn't have them in my supplies I decided to make them myself!...I stamped some flowers on several clear sheets and drew a line around the flowers with a black marker.
I liked the results so much, so I made the complete sketch with these home-made sheets.
Than I added some Prima-flowers and a title with Thickers.
This is my layout:
So..up to the next challenge!!
I love it...

Challenge at The Heart of Scrap

The messageboard of TheHeartOfScrap started his first challenge this month: use ribbon and/or fabric, paint and a non-scrap-item and make a cool layout!
I used clothing-labels ( Is this a good english word?? I meant the designer-labels which come together with the price-labels when you buy clothes!) not only as a non-scrap-item but also because of the fabric. The left one was originally green, so I painted it with white acrylic paint and made some black lines with my marker. I also added some ribbon and some flowers. The silver flower came from a decoration on a yoghurt-package!
The right one was a grey cardboard label, which I painted also and stamped some words on it.
Because it had to be a cool(tough?) layout I didn't want to add much flowers. I think the picture also speaks for itself and doesn't 'ask' for flowers...So I added some plastic spiders!
So I think I added enough non-scrap-items...
It was fun to work a little bit freestyle again!

I hope you like it!

3x Sugar Sugar from Kaisercraft

For my DT-'work' (I love this 'work'!) I made two layouts and a card, using the Sugar Sugar-papercollection from Kaisercraft. I only used the 4 different papers in this collections to create both layouts and the card..and some flowers, cardstock and embellishments of course.
Because of all the cupcakes on the paper you hardly can avoid using these papers for birthday-pictures or cake-eating etc. And of course this is what they are designed for!
This is the first layout I made. It is a picture of Laura on her second birthday, reaching for all the candy on her birthday cake!

Then I made this card:

This is on the inside:

And because I like challenges so much....
I thought it would be fun to use these papers for other pictures than birthday-cake-eating-pictures. So I used pictures of Laura instead, playing in the sand!
The second challenge on this layout was using most of the scraps because I had already used a lot for the first layout and the card.
This is the result...and I am more than satisfied!

I used the remaining sand/glue-mix for the title-word 'Beach' and to add some texture between the pictures and on the flowers. I also used some shells I found in Danique's room. (Please, don't tell her..she doesn't know..!) and some pearls.
Have a nice day!

A card for a wedding

Last week I made a card for my brother and sister in law, who married last Friday. They had terrible weather but still had the best party ever!
They invited the dutch X-Factor finalist Irma to come and sing at their party. And this woman knows how to use her voice. Wow! She was great!
Danique was also very happy that Irma was singing at the wedding and of course she wanted a picture with her...and her cousin, who is also a good friend of hers.

This is the card I made. Because cardmaking is not my thing I used the step-by-step workshop, shown in Cards Only a few months ago:

Hope you like it!
