Puzzle me

I promised to show you my paper scrapping layout I made this week. I made it for the DT-Call for AllAboutMe. I didn't make it to the DT unfortunately but I didn't expect to either because I have still so much to learn as a scrapper.
This is my layout:

The title and journaling are from a song of Ilse De Lange, one of my favourite singers. Right after I heard this song for the first time I wanted to make a layout with this title.
So here it is!
Sandra

Other creative art...

Danique has become a big fan of Michael Jackson since he died and is listeningto his music all day, watching his clips on You Tube or the History-DVD she got from us. She is a great dancer too and tries to imitate him where she can. (The moonwalk is still on her list!)
She can't wait till it is her birthday...only two weeks to go..so she can ask for his new cd. I promised that we would go see his movie in the theater also.
So it wasn't hard to choose what picture I should use for pimping a shirt for her! I copied a picture from his This Is It-cd from the internet, opened it in Photoshop and created the pattern with a brush, creating the dots where the hotfix-stones should come.
I found a pattern with just his name on the internet also to put on the front of the shirt.
This is the result:

Monday is the first day after the school holiday here...Danique can't wait to show her shirt!!

Digital challenge at Kaisercraft

This month the first digital challenge at Kaisercraft Digital was released. You can download a free kit. It is a cool one and I already downloaded some time ago. But now I know much more about PSE I thought I could try the digital challenge as well.
The challenge was to make a layout with only this TAG THIS-kit. Since I follow their website a couple of weeks now, I was able to download the free daily brushes also. I don't know if this ok with the jury at Kaisercraft, but it added so much more to the layout...so I took the chance!

This is my entry to the challenge:

It took me more than three hours to create this layout...A PSE-professional could do it probably in half the time...but I'm very satisfied!

And in case you might think I'm only digi-scrapping now...NOT! I also made a paper layout this week but I cannot show you yet. I sent in two submissions to two different DT-calls and this paper layout was made for one of these DT-calls.
Although I don't expect to be chosen for one of these DT's I submitted because"If you don't shoot you will always miss! " It felt like I was applying for a job and that was something I had to learn too! But still, it's so exciting to sent in your work for a DT call...

2nd October Challenge at WijDUS

Just like every month the second challenge at WijDUS is a sketch. Since they appreciated my digital layout so much which I entered for the first challenge, I thought I'd try to digi-scrap the sketch also.
This was the sketch:
And this is my layout:
I'm beginning to like this digi-scrapping!!
Have a nice day!

A cute mess

I love the paintsplatter-brushes in PSE! These are so easy to use and you can get great results in only half an hour...
So I made another layout today...just for fun...when I was eating my lunch...:

That is it for today!

You color my world

I discovered a new tutorial for Photoshop Elements...yes, I was bloghopping again, can't remember how I ended up at this page...It was a tutorial at Oscraps.com about a beautiful mosaic layout. I loved the layout so I decided to try this 29 page (!!)-tutorial.
In the tutorial she worked with a layered template for the mosaic tiles. Because I didn't have this template I made it myself, thanks to the multiphoto-grid I learnt to make last week! A lot of mouse-clics, but it worked.
Halfway the tutorial she used an Action for PSE to color all the tiny photo's in only a few mouse-clics. Up till then I had never heard of Actions in PSE. I found out that Actions work like macro's in Excell. I didn't have this action either so I colored all the photo's myself..again a lot of mouse-clics!
I found a nice freebie Splash and Spatter-paintbrush which I used for all the paintsplashes.

This is the result:

Of course, it is not as beautiful as the original layout in the tutorial but I think I must be very satisfied...especially because I'm still a beginner in digital scrapping.
I hope to do some paper scrapping also this week. I'm waiting for my orders to arrive...one of them are two great kits I bought in the USA. The other one is from a local scrapstore. I ordered more than 3 weeks ago but everything seems to go wrong with this order because I still don't have it...I can tell you, it was the first and also the last time I bought at this store!

Honest Blog-award!

From Miranda I received this award:

Thank you so much, Miranda! I love awards and it means a lot to me, because it is nice to know people appreciate your work and your blog.
I understood that when you accept this award and want to give it to others as well, you have to add 10 honest statements...Well, here are mine:
1. You can wake me up in the middle of the night with waffles, cherries and cream...
2. My 14 yo cat died a few weeks ago and I don't miss him...
3. I love my husband and kids so much that it hurts...
4. I hate it when I loose a tennismatch!
5. I can be very impatient sometimes...
6. I'm so addicted to scrapbooking that I neglect my household often...
7. I'm a perfectionist...(not as it comes to my household!...)
8. I haven't called my friend (who I know for more than 35 years now!) in almost half a year...
9. A summerhouse in Sweden is on the top of my wishlist!
10. I spend to much money on scrapbooking...

Ok, that was the hardest part. Now the fun part...the give away:
Janis , because I like her style so much and she inspires me a lot.
and Sandra , because she is always so fast with her nice comments on my blog and because I still haven't seen a layout with the Imaginisce-papers she bought so long ago!!

Sandra

New look on my blog!

I bought a digital download kit a few days ago. It was an art-kit by TraciBautista with lots of funky prints, which I'm planning to use on my scrapbookpages, both digital as paper.
I love all those funky bright colors! Here is one of her prints:

For now I pimped my blog with one of her prints and changed the background to something that matched the print. I hope you like it!

Challenge at WijDUS

Yep...finished another layout for a challenge yesterday! Since I know how to work with Photoshop Elements a little bit more I tried some more digital scrapping. I downloaded some free digital scrapkits and made this layout. The digital kit is from ShabbyPrincess. If you are also in for some digital scrapping please check this site!!!
I used the Spontaneous Delight-kit for my layout (and some embellishments etc. from other kits). The layout is my entry to the first October-challenge at WijDUS. You had to scrap a picture of an animal, so here it is...my favourite..a moose:

Although I like the real scrapping much more, I think I will digiscrap also more often..it is fun to do when you have some time left...not enough to get all your scrapsupplies on the dinnertable...or when you have a 2 year old daughter like me...who wants to grab everything she can reach and play with it!

AAM Challenge #3

The third challenge at the AllAboutMe blog was a difficult one...not only because it needed some good thinking, but also because I was wondering if I wanted to share this truth with all my blog-readers. Than I thought...why not? It is simply the way I am and I don't mind if someone knows about it!
The challenge was 'Pigeon-holed':
Do you ever feel as though you've been pigeon-holed? Categorised? Labelled? Misunderstood? As though you've changed, but no-one else sees it? Who does everyone think you are? Who do you really think you are? Are they the same?

There was a great sketch also, which you could use if you wanted to. I loved the sketch so I used it!

This is my layout.
I think the picture is very symbolic. Maybe some of you recognized it because I use the photoshopped version on my blogprofile. Well, this is the complete picture! Michael is sitting just a little bit behind me, with his arm around me....Loving me and supporting me, no matter what! Thanks to him I can be tough and deal with bigger or minor problems, I can stand up for myself and be myself...and at the moments I don't feel 'so tough' but insecure or depressed I know he is there to take care of me!
The keyhole shaped journalingtag is also a bit symbolic: when I wrote the journaling it felt like I let you all peek right into my heart.
I'm so glad I found this All About Me-blog. Otherwise I would never have made this layout!

A little bit of digital scrapping...

While bloghopping I discovered a tutorial about how to make a multi-photo-grid in Photoshop Elements. I often make a series of photos about one moment or on a special day and I never can put myself to delete some and just leave one or two good photos. With this multiphoto-grid I can place as many pictures as I like on one A4-page! Yes, I know there is Picasa etc. which can do things like that also but I didn't want to have another photo-editing software. I love Photoshop Elements and I really want to work with this much more! I only have to find more time and patience to learn all about it...
But this tutorial was awesome and the descriptions were completely clear...so I managed to make some photo-grids!

The first one is about an autumn-hike we made a few weeks ago:

The second is about Laura enjoying her icecream.
I digi-scrapped this one a little bit by adding a striped background and some eyelets. The letters in the title come from the free digi-kit 'Tag This' at Kaisercraft!
I think I'm going to make some more from now on!
Have a nice day!

October challenge at Kaisercraft

For the challenge at Kaisercraft you had to let you get inspired by an inspiration board of one of their graphic designers.
This is my entry:
You had to use at least three Kaisercraft products. The embroided badge came from the Penny Royale collection. I also used some pink Kaisercraft flowers and thanks to their Q1-magazine I had the perfect third product: the extra's that were printed in the magazine! It was a big swirl, some tropical flowers and a page full of dots, all of the Pina Colada collection. I cut out all the dots, glued them partly on top of eachother to creat a new paper and covered my chipboardletters with it. I finished the letters with paperglaze.
My intention was to create a summerstyle layout. I think I did!

October-challenge Scrappassion

Can you believe how addicted I am to scrap-challenges? I noticed last Wednesday that I really had to scrap something, but there was no challenge left at the moment! And so I sat down and didn't know how to scrap without a challenge...Nothing came out of my hands!
So I'm so happy with the start of October!! That means new challenges!!

This is my entry to the challenge at Scrappassion. You had to alter something of wood.
I altered a wooden photoframe. This was before:

And this is after I altered it:
I used the scraps of the Penny Royale-papers from the mini-album I made a few weeks ago. See
here. I made this picture of Laura last weekend, when it was such great weather. We made a nice hike in the woods, enjoying the fall. Halfway Laura sat on a stump to rest and she sat so cute...and she even let me take a picture! (Normally she turns her head down or runs away..)
I was the perfect picture for these papers and I couldn't wait to scrap it!
I hope you like it!
