My layout top 10 of 2010!

Only two days to go and the year of 2010 has come to an end! Just like a lot of other scrappers I'm overviewing the past year. (I'm reorganizing my pictures of my work on my portable harddisk too...lol)
And I decided to make a top 10 of my favorite layouts of this year.
Here it is:
(januari)

 (february)

 (february)

 (february)

 (May)
I especially love this one because I created it was a mother-daughter project!

 (June)

 (September)

 (September)

 (October)

 (November)
I haven't made much layouts the last few months. It looks like my addiction for art journaling and ATC's has taken over! Of course, I've almost finished my project 52: One Word Each Week. I'm very proud that I really finished it and that it hasn't become another UnFinished Object (UFO)!

For 2011 my focus will be on art journaling even more. I'm gonna try to Art Journal Every Day with Julie Balzer. I bought a new journal with watercolor paper, some new Neocolors and some extra watercolor paint. Can't wait to start this journal!
I'm almost done with preparing my January Daily, so I'm determined to write in it every day of January and finish each page.
I subscribed to a birthdaycard swap on the forum of Scrapfever...just for fun. I'm not really a cardmaker but I love to receive a lot of cards on my birthday! (lol)
I promised myself to capture all my memories and photos on a few digital layouts every month and create an album with it at the end of the year, just like I did last summer with all my holiday pictures.
That doesn't mean I will quit the scrapbooking-thing...Let's just see what happens in 2011 and 'go with the flow!
This will be my last blogpost for 2010...
I will now leave you with wishing you all a very happy, healty and creative 2011!

More ATC's!

Yesterday I received my traded ATC's from the Scrappers Anonymous swap. The theme was 'Under Water'.
Here are the ATC's I made for this swap:
(Look on my Flickr photostream to see each ATC on its own.)

I made a mini album for the swap hostess too:

Lots of ATC's!

The time has come that I can show you my first ATC's!
I joined a swap...no, three swaps!!!...last month. Now I finally got the traded ATC's back...sometimes it is hard to wait when you expect great artful things in your mailbox! (lol)
The first ATC swap I joined was on the forum of Scrapfever. The theme was 'mail'.
Here are my ATC's:
(You can see each ATC separate on my Flickr account. Click on the picture on the right or here.)

I made these ATC's with the digital collage sheets of Nancy Baumillers Crowabout StudioB.
I resized and printed the elements, cut them out, glued these on an ATC sized card and yes...again I did the 'big paintmarker attack'! I cut the edges to make the cards look like stamps.
I created a little ATC-album to thank the hostess of this swap. (I found a tutorial on YouTube here.)
This is the front:
 And this is the back:

Here are the traded cards I got back:
As you can see I got some happy mail today !

Earlier this week I got my traded cards from another ATC swap, the one from the Dutch ATC Group on Flickr.
The theme was 'Eyes'.
Here are my ATC's:

(Again, if you would like to see them one at a time, please check my Flickr Photostream!)

For these ATC's I used the digital collage sheets from Julia van der Werf's Cemerony.
Of course, I made an ATC-album to thank the hostess for this swap:

 (back)

And here are the ATC's I got back:
I love them all!

Now I am still waiting for the traded cards from the third swap....
Hope to show you these soon!

Imagine

Here is my latest page in my art journal, a mixed media collage with magazine cut outs.
I had so much fun making this one! I had painted the background a few weeks ago, just to try out some painting techniques. Yesterday I felt like doing some art journaling, so I pulled out my stash with magazine cut outs. I created the image in no time...thanks to an overflow of inspiration, I guess. I love how it all turned out!

Project 52: week 36-49 and ART Journal Every Day!

If finished some more pages in my Project 52: One Word Each Week.
Here is week 36 till 49!
(Yes, I know...week 35 en 47 are missing...still waiting for the pictures...)

Now I have almost completed my project 52 for 2010...I was asking myself what to do next year. I liked doing this project but halfway through the year I felt I couldn't finish it. That is not me! So I'm happy to have found some new energy and update my project. What I learned from this is that my new project for 2011 must NOT have weekly deadlines. The more freedom the better!
Of course, I am starting my January Daily in 2011. I'm busy working on the album right now, preparing all the pages for my journaling, doodling and little pieces of collage art.
I have also decided to do a digital layout every time I feel like capturing some memories. I want to use some pre-made templates and just add pictures and journaling. This takes maybe an hour per layout. If I do three or four digital layouts a month I think I can complete a great album at the end of 2011. (I made my first digital album last summer, with a layout of each day of our holiday in Sweden and I loved the results!)

And this morning I read Julie's blogpost about ART JOURNAL EVERY DAY. It is about keeping an art journal in just 10 minutes a day ! Read this:
•Remember, all you need is ten minutes a day. Seriously. If you have ten minutes and some art supplies then you can do this! (If you have ten minutes and a ballpoint pen you can do this.)
•This is a no pressure environment. If you miss a day, who cares? Get back on the art journal wagon the next day!
•Finally, this is not about creating a finished product. This is about taking time to nuture your creative self every single day.
I love this idea!!! So I'm hopping on this train and will see where I get off!
And for all of you who have wanted to start an art journal but just could find the right moment...THIS IS THE MOMENT!! Hop on over to Julie's blog and read all about it!

Hey santa...let's party!

This year I made my own christmascards! No scrapcards, but a piece of my own artwork!
I created an art journal page with a collage of magazine cut outs. The background is colored with acrylic paint and Neocolor's. I even did some stamping and used some holografic embossing powder but this faded a little bit. It was meant to create a resist for the paint but it didn't work out...(It was the first time I tried this technique..)
Again, after it all dried I did 'the big paintmarker attack' again! Than I scanned the page and ordered my christmascards online at a photoprintservice....Et voilĂ ! Easy as one-two-three!
Here it is:

January Daily?

I started a new project...a big one! You will all know about the December Daily albums, which are so popular right now. An album you make before December starts and in which you can write all your memories, counting down to Christmas, starting on the 1st of December. You just have to do the journaling and add some pictures in December. Very handy in a month loaded with time consuming activities!
I won't say that I hate December, it's just not my favorite month...I'm more looking forward to the start of a new year instead! Mostly I have loads of refreshed energy in January, when the days are getting longer, although slowly and everything is back to normal. I love the promise of a new year, with all it's new possibilities!
So, why not start a January Daily, I thought?
I was very..and I mean VERY MUCH inspired by Ingrid Dijkers. (She lives in the States, but her roots are dutch. Yeah!) She makes great art work, full of colour and she knows how to journal! Seeing her album 'Over the edge' made me want to make something like that too!!
So I started collecting packaging of pizza (instead of the frequently used cereal boxes, because I don't eat cereal..lol), cardboard boxes and other cardboard. I cut them all in one size (16x20cm). I cut some of the edges in shapes already and other pages will get a special edge later in the proces. For the cover and the back I used an old childrensbook. (I used the pages of this book to create the little houses in my art journal page in my previous blogpost!)
This is what it looks like now:
(In case you are wondering why the cover is upside down...I punched the holes in the wrong place the first time! So I turned it around and gave it another try...lol!)
I have to buy some new, bigger!, binding rings, but for now these will do...

As you can see...still lots of work to be done!
I'm not sure if I will finish it in time..before January..but at least I can give it a try.

Home is where the heart is

I finished another page in my art journal. This one was to try out some watercolor techniques on bookpaper and creating the little houses with it.

Updating my Project 52...week 11 - 34.

Can you believe that the last time I posted about my Project 52 was on the 25th of March this year?!
I managed to do my weekly pages untill week 17 I think...after that I only did the pictures and the journaling for a long time. Scrapping the left half of my week could also be done later....
Yep, that 'later' is now!!! The year of 2010 is almost over and I really don't want to start 2011 with an UFO...so I spent some time updating my Project 52: One Word Each Week!
(You can see the previous posts about my album here and here.)
Here's week 11 till week 34:
