Challenge Scrapfever: Nichtjes & Vriendinnen

This month's challenge at the forum of Scrapfever was a one with some restrictions: use a colored background (which meant: no black, white or craft background), use an edge punch, six flowers and a dutch title. I always scrap with english titles but I thought: what can be so hard thinking of a dutch title?! Boy, was I wrong!!! Everytthing that popped up in my head was english! I tried searching in the lyrics of dutch songs, poems, other dutch scrappers, etc. Nothing gave me the feeling of 'Yes, this is it!'...
Finally, I decided to go for 'Nichtjes & Vriendinnen' (Cousins & Friends). The girls in the picture are my daughter Danique and her cousin Charlotte. They don't see eachother very often but when they do, they always have lots of fun.
As you can see, the flowers and the colored background were no problem. I used the bracket edge puch from EK Succes. It is a little bit hidden on the layout.. I used it with the light blue paper with the big 'handwritten' circles, which is half under the picture and the flowers.
Here is my layout:

And here are some details..
The bracket edge punch:
I misted the blue/grey flower with some glimmermist and added some ice stickles. I cut of the blue and white striped border, the blue rose included, from the background paper and attached it on the piece of light blue paper with the circles. This way I could add the paper with the punched edge and still make it look like it was one piece of paper.

I did also a lot of handcutting:
I used some papers from Prima's Pastiche collection and the frame is cut out from a paper of their Paradise City collection. The flowers are all from Prima too, except the little blue one. That one is from Magnolia.

TCR#12: Din första loppis.

It was a long time ago since I made a digital layout. Mostly because my computer had crashed with my complete Photoshop Elements on it, but also because I just didn't feel like doing it.
This week's color palette at The Color Room was such a difficult one for me. I didn't have anything in my stash which inspired me to do a traditional paper layout! So, I decided to try digital again...
Here is this weeks color palette:

And here is my digital layout:

I used the Authentic Artistry kit, designed by Christina Renee.
The title is in swedish and it means: 'Your first flea market'. The picture is taken during our summer holiday in Sweden last year. We love to visit a 'loppis' (flea market) when we are in Sweden. This was the first one for Laura and she loved it. It was in a very tiny room, where the bookcases against all the walls were loaded with old books. She loved going through all the books!
I love how my layout turned out and I loved doing some digital scrapping. Don't worry, next one will be a tradition paper layout again!  ;-)

D&D Card Challenge: Just Arrived

The card challenge at Dolls and Decorations for this month was to scrap a card that has NOT a square or rectangle shape. Their card challenge is the only card challenge I do every month..since three months...just to keep up with a little bit of cardmaking. You already might have noticed that I do mostly layouts and sometimes mini-albums...;-)
I was inspired by a birdhouse card I saw in Cards Only nr. 13. I drew my own birdhouse and decorated it with some papers from Websters Pages: a combined 6x6 inch paperpad with the Life's Portrait collection and the Lullaby collection. The big flowers are from Prima.
Here it is...

the front:

From the left and from the right side:

And the inside:

I'm very happy about the results.
Now I have to wait till some baby will arrive, so I can send it!

TCR#11: Hello Sunshine!

I finished another layout for The Color Room! I loved the colors but somehow I didn't get on paper what was in my head...So I'm only 95% satisfied about the results..
This was the color pallette:

And here is my layout:

I cut out the orange flowers from a paper from Basic Grey's Gypsy collection.
The green swirl is a die-cut I had in my stash since a long time. I sprayed the background with pink glimmermist (color S.W.A.K.!) and 'splashed around' with some green acrylic paint.
I created three of the flowers myself: the little green rose is made of cardstock. The pink flower on the right is made of some Prima e-line flowers and glimmermisted. The rose on the left is made of pink patterned paper. I believe this technique is called 'grunge roses'. I sprayed the rose with glimmermist as well.
The word 'Sunshine' is handwritten, cut out and covered with pink fun flock.
The 5% I'm not satisfied about is the way the title turned out...

I'll end this post with some pictures of my little girl having fun with her daddy, in the playground this morning:

Aren't they cute together?!

Bella Boulevard cards

Today I read the blog of Bella Boulevard ...just like I always do...and read about their giveaway, a great Oh Boy! kit. All you have to do for a chance to win this kit is leave a comment with a link to a Bella Boulevard project, spotted 'somewhere online'.
So, why search the internet to find some Bella Boulevard projects..(which wouldn't be that hard, by the way!) if I have those projects lying right here in front of me?!
I made two cards a few weeks ago with some scraps of Bella Boulevard papers and I haven't had the chance to show you yet. So this would be a perfect opportunity, right?
Here they are:

I used my new Martha Stewart borderpunch:

And for this one I embroidered some pink felt to create a flower:

Very simple but they give me a happy feeling every time I see them.
Shall I keep them of shall I send them to make someone else happy??
................................;-)....................
Of course, I will send them!!!

June's Build A Page: Beautiful Girl

I bought some great Prima products a while ago and now the time had come to create a layout with these: Prima's Build-A-Page! This is the sketch:
And this is what I created:
I used a paper of the Strawberry Kisses collection as a background and cut parts of the flowers to be able to slide papers and pictures underneath it. This way I wanted to give the layout more depth. Of course I added lots of flowers too for more dimension.

The blue flowers are from Magnolia, by the way, but they fitted perfectly on my layout.
Most of you know already that the packaging of Prima is re-usable. So clever! I used some packaging twice here. The light vertical mat came from some flowers. The rusty colored mat under the big picture came from a small clearstamp. It is covered with  part of a paper from the Paradise City collection.
I painted a grungeboard hinge with some crackle paint and distressed the cracks with some ink. I did the same with the chipboard letters in the title.
The butterflies are cut out from a paper from the Pastiche Collection:

TCR#10: Please stop growing so fast!

When I'm blogging I feel like I'm only showing you my projects for The Color Room lately...They have a new color palette every week and I love to be challenged by these palettes. It is also a great way to use up my old stash. Every week I dig through my complete stash and collect everything that goes with the color palette. Then I start thinking about how my layout must be...and sometimes I use little pieces of papers that were in my stash for years!
Here is this week's color palette:

And here is my layout:

Most of the times I work with a white background. This time I chose black to make it look cooler and tougher, to match my son's picture. I stamped the background with white acrylic paint.
The pieces of paper came from an old brochure from a toystore. I used some designers labels from Cars and Converse too. I found the little red button at my own O'Neill shirt while I was doing the laundry and thought it would fit perfectly on my layout...so I simply cut it of! (I confess..I'm addicted and do anything for a perfect layout....!)
I added some red stitches all over to finish my layout.
The layout is about my son Mitchell, who just turned twelve. He is growing up so fast, becoming a real teenager. Sometimes I miss the cute, sweet and shy little boy he once was...Time flies!

TCR#9: notes- and adressbook cover.

The ninth colorpalette at The Color Room was up last week..time flies! Up till now I managed to do them all. Some of them were really difficult, some of them were more my colors. And I must say..after last week's honour, seeing my layout featured there the whole week...it was tough to create another masterpiece...which I didn't!  This week I had the perfect colors in my stash, but unfortunately too many non-scrap things to do. Still, I found some time to create a cover for my notes and adressbook.
This was the colorpalette:

And here is my quilted cover:

After seeing the colorpalette I directly thought of the scraps of quilt fabric, which I bought years ago. They were perfect for this palette! In between all my appointments this week I stitched the scraps together, some by hand, some with my machine. This afternoon..one of the quiet ones this week...I wrapped the little quilt around my adressbook and pimped it with some ribbons and tiny fabric roses. The word 'notes' is cut out from a piece of white leather and handstitched on the front.
I will certainly not do anything like this again...I love the results but all that stitching and 'fabric thing' is not for me...I rather have paper and glue! But I wouldn't have known this if I hadn't tried it, right?

My favorite shoes!

I discovered a new challenge blog..that is to say: RE-discovered...It was on my list of favorites for some time already, but then my computer crashed...which meant that I lost all my favorites, my email adresses etc. Luckily enough I had been smart enough to save all my files to my external hard disc in time...
Thanks to Sandra, who told me about a great blog she found I re-discovered These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...also known as TAAFOMFT. They are having their one year anniversary right now, celebrating it with a big challenge with even bigger prizes!
This was my first time I played along...but I will certainly try to do this more. I'm not very good in scrapping about myself, so that will be a big challenge. But maybe necessairy too...scrapping is not only about my family but also about me! I really need to remind that more often!
Ok..enough of this self reflection...back to the challenge...The challenge was to scrap about your favorite shoes. Unlike lots of other women I totally don't have anything with shoes...or fashion...If I could I would wear my jeans, a sweater and some sneakers every day. I don't have a favorite pair of shoes! Then suddenly I thought of a quote I had read long time ago and have never forgotten:
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same...
and so my layout was inspired on this quote. I scrapped the shoes of my hubby and kids!
Here it is:
I felt like doing something funky...using paint and get dirty!
I cut white cardstock into four squares and painted all of them in different colors, using the 'scraping-with-creditcard-technique' and the 'stamping-with-bubble-wrap-technique'. Than I tore the squares into smaller pieces, stamped words on it and collaged these in the shape of a heart. I stitched the heart on craft cardstock. I cut the backpocket of an old jeans and painted a shoe print on it. The title is inspired by Kathleen Glossop. She often uses lots of different fonts creating long titles. I love it! The word 'footprints' in the title is inspired by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. She writes her titles on cardstock -...in her own handwriting! Who needs an expensive Cricut?!...- and cuts out the words.

Of course I needed some footprints, running over my heart, so I googled for an image of a footprint, printed these a few times, cut these out and attached these with foamtape across my heart.

The quote is written in a border along the edges of the layout. Being a perfectionist I grabbed my alfabet mask first, but then I remembered I needed to journal more in my own personal handwriting...so I did!

Featured!!

I feel so honoured! My latest layout for The Colour Room got featured!
Look here or here.
There were  so many beautiful layouts this week, like every week, so I'm so proud my layout was chosen by Ronda Palazzari. I admire Ronda's work very much so that is a big bonus!

It is only Friday morning here, but I can't think of a better way to start my day...

TCR#8: Captured Moment

I told you at the end of my previous blogpost about color palette #7 at The Color Room that the color palette for this week promised to be a much better color combination for me. And it was!
I had so much fun playing with it that I scrapped all afternoon, totally neglecting my kids and my laundry...
But I think the result was worth it this time!
This was the color palette:
And this is my layout:
It all started with a little piece of paper with the green and purple wall pattern.
The rest of the layout sort of created itself while I was working on it. I just kept adding flowers, stamped swirls and flowers I cut out of a paper from Kaisercraft's Lilac Avenue. I also made some roses from purple and green cardstock. The green petals were originally lilies, which I cut in pieces. The big purple and green flowers are made with white Prima e-line flowers. I layered a couple of these in different sizes, distressed them with ink and added some stamens. I 'touched' the end of the stamens with a purple glitter pen.
The journaling tag is a stamp from Kaisercraft's Penny Royale collection. I colored the edge with the same glitter pen. The title letters are chipboard letters, covered with purple Fun Flock.
Some details:

The sweet little girl on the picture is my daughter Laura, a year ago. I did a photoshoot with my two girls and after a while Laura didn't want me to take pictures any more. She didn't want to smile or just sit pretty any longer...my own little drama queen!
