A Christmas card

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is having a Holidays Handmade week this week, loaded with all sorts of projects for the holidays.

As some of you may know I'm not really a fan of Christmas...I'm more into 'Sinterklaas'...(The dutch readers will know what I mean. For my international readers: 'Sinterklaas' looks a little bit like Santa and is also giving away presents, only in the beginning of December. He rides a white horse and has a lot of helpers, his so called Black Knights. It's a typical dutch and belgian tradition.)
Anyway, I may not be looking forward to Christmas like the rest of the world, I like all things crafty! On the first day of Holidays Handmade (with four tutorials!!!!) I was inspired by the first one: the altered frame.
Only I didn't have a frame-to-be-altered in my supplies....
So I decided to use this technique on some chipboard stars:

I attached the three stars on top of eachother: 

Added the glue to create some texture. (I love this technique because I don't own an embossing machine!)

After the layers of gesso, gold and black acrylic paint I had my altered star. (Sorry, no picture..)
I decided to create a Christmas card with it:

I'm 100% satisfied about how the star turned out. Since I'm not a cardmaker I'm not completely satisfied about the card itself. But I loved using this technique!

Today is day two of Holidays Handmade...I can't wait!

Sketchy Thursdays Fave!

...my layout was to chosen as a Sketchy Thursdays Fave this week!

Still happy...and a card!

I haven't played in The Color Room for a long time, simply because I didn't have the time or because I was inspired by other challenges or projects. But I loved the color palette so much this week that I really had to play with it! And when I saw their card sketch I had to create something with that one too...(lol).
I combined the color palette with this week's sketch at Sketchy Thursdays...loved that one too...

I used Prima's Strawberry Kisses collection. The colors matched perfectly with the color palette.

More sneak peeks!

I made another art journal page for a challenge. Unfortunately I can't show you the complete page yet, so I'm afraid you will have to be satisfied for now with a little sneak peek....

I also made my second series of ATC's. And I'm sorry...can't show you either...they are for a swap with a deadline halfway December.

But of course I don't want to miss this chance to make you very curious...(lol)..so here are two sneak peeks!

Mini-album: Een dagje treinen.

In the beginning of October I made a so called 'maze mini-album' during a day with lots of girls from Scrapfever. It is a small album, size 3,5 x 3,5 inch. The inside pages are made with only one 12x12 inch paper, folded together. The cover and the back are made of chipboard and covered with patterned paper.
The album was still waiting to become a little project, filled with pictures of a special day.
This great day was a few weeks later, when I made a big journey by train through a big part of the Netherlands, together with my kids. Our ticket was valid for free traveling by train this day, so we could take any train we wanted and go where we wanted! The kids had made a complete time table covering all the places they wanted to visit, so we knew which train we had to take and at what time. Of course, we could decide during the day to change plans and take a different direction...So fun!
Unfortunately, the weather was very rainy and cold that day, so we spent most of the day in the train...
I used my scraps of Prima's Blooming Retro collection.
I managed to fill this mini-album with 21 pictures, all sized 2x2 inch and 1,5x1 inch! (There was room for even more pictures but I had run out of pictures...)

(I noticed that I forgot to photograph two pages in the middle of the album...It is about my son making silly faces and the first thing he said when he saw this page: "Mom, you are not putting this one on your blog, are you?!"....so I think he will be glad I forgot these pages...lol) This is the back:

The album has some pockets in which I put some tags...only more space to put more pictures, right?

Sketchy Thursdays 11.11: Hey, put that camera down!

Here is my entry for this week's challenge at Sketchy Thursdays. I decided to challenge myself and work with the scraps of my Sassafras papers. A double challenge, because working with the busy patterns of Sassafras is difficult enough...

As always I asked my hubby's opinion about my finished layout...I quote: 'Eh..well, yes...I have seen better!' So much for a supporting husband, right?!

But to be honest...I think he's right..I'm 99% satisfied...

Free, Tea Time... and some sneak peeks!

Finally, I can show you something again! I have been creating a lot lately but I can't show you yet...unfortunately...
I made my first ATC's. I can give you two sneak peeks...you will have to wait untill January probably to see the complete series.

I also created an art journal page for a challenge. Can't show you either....sorry! Hopefully some time before Christmas...

It feels like it has been ages since I did some scrapbooking. I bought some great inkpads lately, a punch, papers, etc. but I haven't had the chance to play with these yet!

But I also love art journaling so much!

And I feel a new addiction for ATC's coming up too...

CAN SOMEBODY PUT AN EXTRA FEW HOURS IN MY DAY????!!!!!!

Challenge Scrapfever: Favorite things...

The challenge at Scrapfever this month was to scrap about Your Favorite Things.
I didn't scrap about MY favorite things..(did something like that before. Look here)...so I made a layout about Laura's favorite things. Also because I had the perfect picture from her to use on my layout.
Here is my layout:

It is a hybrid layout again. I printed all the candy and the letters for the title and cut them out.

The background is misted with two colors glimmermist.
